One-on-One with Haolin Munk

In 2015, we partnered up with the great Toronto radio host/encyclopedia of music/maker of a mean lasagna (from what I hear), Luca Capone and hosted some episodes of his weekly radio program The Night Shift. We reached out to Luca to see if he would be interested in teaming up with us again and he was! So keep your eyes and ears open for more great content from Luca.

Tune into The Night Shift every Wednesday from 9-11 PM on CJRU 1280 AM.

Follow Luca on Twitter and/or Facebook to keep up to date with all things The Night Shift.

On this episode of The Night Shift, I had the supreme delight of chatting with the Godfathers of Steel City proggy, sci-fi jazz-hip-hop mashups, Haolin Munk! Chris Ferguson and Connor Bennett of the group joined me in a chat about their new album, the space opera Planestasia Suite, the otherworldly connection between Canadian electronic music pioneer Mort Garson and legendary Japanese video game music composer/sound designer Koji Kondo, raving about the brilliant Hamiltonian musicians like Emay, Lee Reed & Mother Tareka, which classic modern concept albums proved to be powerful inspirations, the eye-opening influences of Ursula Le Guin and Dune, reimagining complex studio magic sauce in a live setting, the mystery of the Oakvillian production crew The Butterscotch Boys, how Temporary Projects not only provided the monumental push behind HAVN (one of Canada’s best record labels), but the fire behind Hamilton’s Broken Social Scene-esque underground music scene, the secret formula on how to win over Kawhi Leonard FOREVER & MANY OTHER TALES ABOUT MUSIC, BICYCLES AND LAUGHING TIMES FOR ALL!
