The idea of something steadily tightening around you is alarming. I can barely breathe just thinking about it. Max Uhlich’s “Steady Tightening” from his new release Songs from a Jug due out July 5th via Mangled Tapes, is a sparse folky track about just that: trying to breathe. Especially when bad shit is happening all around.
In the video for “Steady Tightening,” animated by Uhlich himself, we see ghostly shapes morphing into various things and animals. But mostly cats. It’s a simple video with just enough spookiness to elevate the desolation of Uhlich’s new track.
