Queen Street in Toronto is an expansive road that runs east to west and slices through the bottom half of the city. On any given day or time, there is so much happening along that street. You can hop on the street car (or bike or walk or drive) and hop off a few blocks later and new adventure will unfold.
On her EP Queen West, the Toronto by way of Ottawa artist SHAY is navigating through her own adventure. Throughout the course of the EP, a flickering, downtempo r&b affair, SHAY fumbles and stumbles through love, but gets back up and struts it off. “This is my world, baby,” SHAY spits on the standout title track.
In a press release, SHAY writes that she “hopes her listeners can relate to falling in and out of love, to losing yourself, and then learning about self-worth” and explains, “Queen West takes you on journey about exploring love, battling heartache, but more importantly discovering yourself. ”
