Hamilton singer-songwriter Shawn Kerr released his debut EP Waves late last year and is back already with a new track. “Matter” is an optimistic sounding folk song that tumbles along like a reddened leaf caught in a crisp fall breeze. Lyrically, Kerr emphasizes the need to be more present and to remember that things usually work themselves out in the end.
As Kerr explains:
[“Matter”] represents how I felt growing up in my small town Parry Sound. I used to worry about such nonsense as a kid, but that nonsense seems so beautiful to me now, because whatever I find myself worrying about today may be nonsense tomorrow. What matters today may not matter tomorrow and I feel like that’s important to remember when life gets a little crazy. Be present and keep your head up.
