BC’s Jesse Thom is striking out on his own as Ayrdri (“ghost music for human birds” as he describes it) and will soon give the world the project’s first album, Snowdragons. The seven-song album featuring producer Elli Tron, out March 17, has two songs available for listening, “Marrow” and “Edmonton.”
The former is now out as a music video. Written as a tribute to his brother Alex, who died of bone marrow cancer at age eight, the song tries to move on past the trauma and remember the good times. A gentle bit of guitar picking, Thom’s expressive vocals and some pretty backups from Rachel Thom will make you want to treasure your childhood memories. The video features children from Myrtle Philips Elementary School in Whistler, BC as they go sledding in the snow and take in the surroundings of winter.
