It’s been a little while since we’ve heard from this great blues outfit from Vancouver, but they’ve recently resurfaced with two new songs. It should get listeners excited for an upcoming new album.
The first track is “Vagabond,” which is about as bluesy and soulful as you can get. Some wicked harmonica solos, some nearly screeched vocals and a wash of guitar make nearly every second of the song pack a punch.
Paired with that is “Bad Luck,” which, to paraphrase slightly a song title, tries a little tenderness. Where “Vagabond” was loud and raucous, “Bad Luck” goes a little softer on the instrumentals, with just a bit of blues guitar at first backing some slightly more refined vocals. The control on this song is masterful; the song could add a bunch more instruments and do a stereotypical build, but it avoids it and makes the song all the more thrilling.
Both tracks are free from Bandcamp. You can also stream both tracks below.
